Ocean conditions in May

The South-East monsoon (Kusi) takes over. Cooler, nutrient-rich water begins to push up the East African coast. Wind and swell increase, the surface turns choppy, and visibility falls. This is the start of the billfish current for offshore anglers and the start of kitesurfing season at Garoda. It is not the start of whale season — only the earliest scouts of Breeding Stock C3 appear, if at all, very late in the month.
